PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT
The City of Fort Meade will be conducting its yearly fire hydrant flushes starting the week of October 10th, 2011. Fire hydrants within the City of Fort Meade are flushed annually to clear the hydrant barrels and to improve the water quality.
This process takes approximately 1 month to complete. Customers may experience some rusty water during this time. Running faucets for a few seconds should help clear the water. If customers continue to have rusty water and flushing does not resolve the issue, please contact the Water Department at 863.285.1119, ext. 2.
The planned schedule is as follows, please note some delays may occur in case of emergencies:
Week of October 10th, 2011 - Northeast Quadrant
Week of October 17th, 2011 - Southwest Quadrant
Week of October 24th, 2011 - Northwest Quadrant
Week of October 31st, 2011 - Southeast Quadrant
Fliers will be distributed in each neighborhood the Friday before flushing in each quadrant.
