Holiday Safety Tips
Theft overall tends to rise in November and December. The best thing to do is to secure what you can. Lock your vehicles and homes. If you purchase gifts online and have them shipped to your home, request signature confirmation or ask a neighbor to hold it for you to avoid possible theft.
Test Fire Dectors
Test your smoke alarms monthly to make sure they work, and be sure to install smoke and carbon monoxide (CO) alarms on every level of your home.
Take extra precautions with turker fryers and always fry outside in a well-venitlated area.
If you have live trees make sure to water daily and check lights broken and exposed wires.
Decorations and Holiday Lights
Use heavy-duty extension cords, and only use cords outdoors if they are designated for outdoor use. Use a timer to turn off lights before going to bed or if you will be away from home.
Social Media and Traveling
If you're traveling, wait to post until after your trip.
